ONESIMO “ones” L. CUYCO is a young professional who grew up in the province of Northern Samar where he spent his primary and secondary education. He obtained Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Master in Public Administration from the University of the Philippines - Diliman. His master’s degree is capped with his presentation of a policy paper on party-list system in the Philippines.

Influenced by public education and exposure in the rural areas, his personal advocacies revolve around the issues on good governance, youth development, local governance, rural development, enterprise education, among others. He concretizes such advocacies in his professional life. Currently, he is connected with the National Livelihood Support Fund which involved him in various capacities such as the provision of interventions in the rural areas where he regularly visits. This is with the end-in-view of capacitating enterprising poor towards accessing livelihood credit and linking them to nearby microfinance institutions. He goes with the agency’s vision of community empowerment and long-term enterprise development as a tool for poverty alleviation.

Mr. Cuyco also served at the Policies and Programs Division of the National Book Development Board and had a short stint in a government radio station. He volunteers in several NGOs such as alumni association, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, and International Association of Traffic Safety Sciences (IATSS) Forum. In late 2006, he attended a 2-month study in Japan with representatives from 9 ASEAN countries learning and sharing together the poverty situation in the ASEAN and the possible collective action agenda.
